Legal Services Coordination
Legal Services Coordination is a business centre within the Department of Attorney General and Justice that is responsible for leading the development and promoting the implementation, of legal services policy across the NSW public sector.
Legal Services Coordination assists NSW Government agencies to obtain cost effective and appropriate legal services by providing:
- Guidelines, policies and best practice standards for legal services
- Assistance to agencies who want to review or outsource their legal services
- Facilitating the Legal Manager's Forum
- Information on legal education and training.
What's new
Core Legal Work definition
Consultations are currently underway regarding the definition of Core Legal Work. These consultations include an online survey of a select group of agency representatives and will be open until 31 May 2012.
Legal Services Blueprint
The NSW Government has released its Legal Services Blueprint. The Legal Services Blueprint outlines reforms to the delivery of legal services across the NSW Government in the following six areas:
- Procurement
- Fee Arrangements
- In-house Legal Services
- Measurement and Monitoring
- Information Sharing
- Whole of Government Coordination
The reforms are designed to ensure that legal services expenditure in NSW is transparent, efficient and aligned with Government priorities.
The Government has endorsed the reforms contained in the Legal Services Blueprint.
Legal Services Coordination is working with agencies to implement the reforms across Government.
